Lime Health, a Quebec-based certified B Corp, announces a partnership with Patients Know Best (PKB), a personal health record platform with over 7 million patients. Thanks to this integration, patients using Emilia can now store their consultations summaries in their PKB record for viewing and sharing.

PKB is a social enterprise that allows patients to centralise all of their health information in a secure personal record, accessible via the NHS App. Through this integration, Emilia generates consultation summaries, automatically translates them into accessible language and sends them to the patient's PKB record. So the patient can read back, understand, and act on the information received long after the consultation.
The patient receives a huge amount of information in a consultation, but does not always have the tools to retain and use it. The challenge is well documented: between 40% and 80% of medical information is forgotten immediately after the visit, and 50% of what is retained is incorrectly remembered. This phenomenon costs the UK healthcare system between £2.95 billion and £4.92 billion per year in redundant consultations, treatment non-adherence, and avoidable readmissions. This is precisely the problem that Emilia and PKB are seeking to solve together.
Emilia, available for free on iOS and Android, is more than a recording tool. Developed in partnership with medical experts, it is built specifically for clinical consultations, drawing on the structure and vocabulary of a medical encounter to recognise medications, diagnoses, and follow-up instructions. It automatically transforms the exchange between a patient and their healthcare professional into a clear summary, an action plan, and suggested follow-up questions, written in accessible language and translatable into a range of languages, an asset for clinicians and organisations serving communities where English is a second language. It records offline, since many clinic visits happen without an internet signal, and the audio is automatically deleted once the summary is created, so no lasting recording is kept.
Developed in partnership with medical experts, its specialist operation is based on the structure and vocabulary specific to clinical consultations. Where other AI solutions support clinicians, Emilia completes the ecosystem by placing the patient at the centre. The summary can be shared with a family caregiver, a parent, or exported directly into the PKB record. The information appears as a summary Document in the Events & Messages section and a Care Plan within the patient’s record. All PKB users can also choose to share their complete record with any individual or organisation.
Launched in September 2025 in Canada and available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and European Union countries, Emilia has been adopted by thousands of users. Nearly a third of the summaries generated by Emilia relate to consultations where a family carer or parent accompanies the patient.
The impact is tangible. A Canadian caregiver whose mother was diagnosed with cancer testifies: "The summaries generated after each consultation allowed me, even when abroad, to stay fully involved in her care journey. It is much more than a technological tool: it is a real human support in a difficult time."
These observations are confirmed by the initial results of a formal evaluation conducted at the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest (CISSSMO), with patients in various care settings. Patients report feeling better prepared for their follow-up consultations, less anxious about forgetting medical information, and better able to follow their healthcare professionals' recommendations. This points to real value for healthcare professionals too, who can have greater confidence that their guidance has been understood and will be followed, easing the worry that a patient may leave without truly grasping their care plan.
This partnership marks a concrete step towards a care model where the patient is empowered to be a true partner in their own care: PKB brings the integration into the British healthcare ecosystem, Emilia brings understanding and continuity after the consultation. Together, they create a complete loop at the service of the patient.
Quotes
Francis Robichaud, founder and CEO of Lime Health:
"Emilia was born from a simple belief: a medical consultation should never end with a patient leaving without clearly understanding what has just been said. Our partnership with Patients Know Best allows us to offer this peace of mind to patients and caregivers in the UK, directly in the health record they already use on a daily basis."
Dr Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO of Patients Know Best:
"Time with a clinician is precious, a patient needs to capture every word to make the best use of their clinician’s time. Emilia is great for recording these words and PKB lets the patient store and share them for future health."
Dr. Pascal St-Germain, Surgeon and Medical VP of Lime Health:
"The stress of a medical consultation makes it difficult for a patient to retain all the information discussed. Emilia automates note-taking in accessible language, directly available on the mobile application, so that the patient can read them back in a calm environment. We are delighted to make this tool available in the UK through our partnership with Patients Know Best."
